On a previous post I commented on the wonderful performance by Liev Schreiber in one of my not to be missed shows, Ray Donnovan. I’m so glad to see that he was nominated for a Golden Globe for best actor in a TV series, drama.
Now as far as the Golden Globe awards, there is only one winner. But I have noticed in schools and children’s sports, there is this trend to give every child a trophy. A friend explained it to me saying this is done so the child doesn’t feel bad and when they get older, they will be able to understand. If they always get a trophy just for participating, doesn’t this set up an unrealistic expectation? And when they are older, are they going to expect a trophy? Shouldn’t we teach children that the trophy doesn’t matter but the fact that they had fun is what counts? Or that they learned something new?
In life we will not always win the trophy, but if we have enjoyed the experience, then we haven’t really lost anything, have we?
